The Checkout Attack

FARMINGTON, Maine — A Phillips woman is accused of attacking a woman in the checkout line in Walmart on Saturday afternoon.

The victim was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital by a NorthStar Emergency Medical Services ambulance, Farmington police secretary Rachel Heseltine said Monday. She was reading from officer Mike Raymond’s report.

Sarah Hanson, 32, was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated assault and misdemeanor charge of domestic violence assault, Heseltine said.

Police responded to Walmart at about 12:25 p.m., she said.

Hanson and her husband were at Walmart and she discovered him talking to a woman in the store. Hanson is accused of running up to the other woman and calling her derogatory names before she and her husband left the store, Heseltine said.

Hanson and her husband got into a fight in the parking lot. Hanson went back into the store and found the woman in a checkout line, punched her in the face, knocked her down and continued to kick her, Haseltine said Raymond’s report states.

Hanson turned herself in at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department at about 3:20 p.m., she said.

The victim was treated at the hospital and released Saturday.

Hanson was taken to the Franklin County jail and released the same day on $1,000 cash bail, a corrections officer said.
