The Bomb Threat

A 48-year-old South Zanesville man is in custody today following a bomb threat at the South Zanesville WalMart.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said a bomb threat was called into the store at 1:57 a.m. this morning. The store was evacuated while K9 units and officials swept the store. No bomb was found and the store reopened at 5 a.m.

Lutz credited his dispatcher for excellent work tracing the call that allowed law enforcement to locate the suspect. Lutz expects formal charges to be filed next week.

K9 units from the Ohio State Patrol and the sheriff’s office were used during the search. South Zanesville and Roseville volunteer fire departments assisted with the evacuation.
