Depending on the school and their seniority and how much research grants they bring in, tenured professors make $80k – $200k+ a year, which means they are not on public assistance. That also mean that they make more in a year than you make in 20 years.
Don’t try to claim that university money is public money because the vast majority of professors pay their own salary through grant money they bring into their school.
Fun fact: There is a higher number of rednecks in the south and midwest that are on welfare than any other group of people. With few exceptions, red states would all be bankrupt and third-world hellholes without assistance from NY, Cali, Oregon, etc.

If tenured professors “pay their own salary” then where do they get money to pay rent and buy groceries? Public education has failed you.
FACT: 90% of money received by universities is Grants and Loans, all provided by the “redneck” taxpayer you seem to hate so much.
Since you didn’t get past grade school I will explain how it works.
When A professor puts in a research grant it goes through the school and they tack on 30-50% of the original grant request. The professor brings more money to the university than he gets paid, hence he pays his own salary.
