Gang Violence

A Victorville man accused of shooting a man and a teen to death during a gang fight at the Victorville Walmart was sentenced Friday to 12 years in prison at Victorville Superior Court.

Alidad Alibaba Ahadpour, 32, was among the seven defendants charged with the murders of Jesus Constantino, 16, and Jaime Jimenez, 20. Following a gang face-off between two cars, the defendants and victims got into a fight in the early morning of April 27, 2008 in the Walmart parking lot, leading to the shooting death of the victims.

Ahadpour accepted the prosecution’s offer and pleaded no contest in July to voluntary manslaughter and assault with a firearm. Judge Eric Nakata sentenced him according to the agreement.

It brought closure to the three-year-old case; the other defendants had already been sentenced to lesser prison and jail terms after taking their plea deals. Authorities believed Ahadpour to be the shooter.

Initially charged with murders and special circumstance allegations, each defendant could have faced life in prison or the death penalty if they had been convicted in trial.

The defendants, some of whom admitted to being Below Under Ground (BUG) gang members, confronted Constantino and Jimenez in the parking lot after the victims came out of the store and a fight broke out, according to Ahadpour’s probation officer’s report. Shots were fired in the midst of the melee, killing the victims.
