Respect is given where respect is shown. Why should anyone just automatically respect someone who wears a badge?? That doesn’t mean anything. Most cops think they can just walk up to people and harass them for absolutely no reason. Just watch 5 minutes of Live PD and it should be renamed Live Harassment. They just walk up to people and say, I smell weed I’m going to search you. No, it doesn’t work that way. That is just showing total disrespect of an individual’s right to privacy. If someone needs the police, they will call them. Just what the hell are you on? The sheriff’s dept. is in charge of policing unincorporated areas(e.g. rural). They also provide protection at the county courthouse, and run the county jail.
