LAVALE — An off-duty Maryland State Police trooper who observed a suspect wanted for indecent exposure in the LaVale Walmart, detained the man until his fellow troopers arrived Thursday evening.
Joseph Abraham Deem, 36, of Berlin, PA, was taken into custody at about 7 p.m. after a store employee observed him allegedly exposing himself. Cpl. Justin Cook of the Cumberland barrack saw Deem allegedly attempting to get the attention of a boy in the store and detained Deem.
The day before, the suspect was in the store between 6:05 and 7:55 p.m. and allegedly exposed himself indecently to boys between 5 and 10 years old. Video surveillance showed the suspect following the boys and watching and entering the men’s bathrooms of the store on numerous occasions.
