BROOKSVILLE – A 26-year-old Brooksville man was arrested for allegedly stealing merchandise from Walmart and then brawling with police officers.
It happened at the Walmart Super Center on Broad Street Thursday night.
According to an arrest report, Walter Stephen Truzack was walking through Walmart stealing various items.
Police say he took cargo shorts and put them on or stuffed other items in his shorts.
Someone called in the theft while it was in progress, according to police, and when officers arrived, he began “shoving, striking and kicking the officers.”
Officers restrained him and placed him under arrest. He is charged with retail theft, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence.
He was booked in the Hernando County jail and held on $18,250 bond.
