Get Off The Counterfeit

A 40-year-old Buffalo woman has been sentenced for using counterfeit currency.

The U.S. Attorney’s office reports Tashine Knightner was sentenced to 18 months in jail and three years supervised release for passing counterfeit bills at Walmart in August of 2009. Authorities say on multiple occasions, Knightner and co-defendant Ronald Evans used a combination of legitimate and counterfeit money to pay for items. A search of their home recovered over $7,000 in counterfeit bills as well as the items used to make the money.

Counterfeit currency and firearms charges are pending against Ronald Evans. In addition to her sentence, Knightner was also ordered to pay $800 in restitution to Walmart.
